Nur noch wenige freie Plätze: Jetzt anmelden! Fresh Perspectives for Research and Innovation. An Interdisciplinary Workshop on Gender and Diversity in Research and Innovation”

The issue of gender in research and innovation is receiving increasing attention by research funding bodies on European and national levels. Sex and gender analysis is an important aspect of research integrity that contributes to the power, vitality, and quality of research, saves lives and money, and eliminates bias. In an interdisciplinary workshop, we want to shed light on the potentials of including gender and diversity perspectives in research and innovation.

There are numerous examples of scientific discoveries, research projects, and innovations that emerged from the connection of gender and diversity on the one hand and science, technology, engineering, medicine, and other 2 disciplines, on the other. In many cases, gender and diversity function as drivers for research and innovation. Some of the most inspiring examples can be found in the EU/US Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Engineering, and Environment Project.

Londa Schiebinger, John L. Hinds Professor of History of Science at Stanford University and Director of the Gendered Innovations Project, will give a keynote speech and discuss with the workshop participants. For a one-day workshop with Londa Schiebinger at the University of Freiburg, we invite contributions by researchers and students from various disciplines who would like to present their research projects or research ideas in order to discuss them from a gender and diversity angle in an open workshop format.

There is no previous gender and diversity knowledge
required. Participants should be interested in discussing
projects in an interdisciplinary way. Please send a brief abstract (200 words in English or German) of your research project or idea to:

Aniela Knoblich, Head of Gender and Diversity Office,
Submission deadline is 31 August, 2015.
