Recommendation of the German Council of Science and Humanities for a sustainable design of studies and teaching: Gender equality at all levels!
In this report, the Council defines guidelines for the sustainable design of the framework conditions for higher education in Germany. The recommendations are addressed to the federal government, the Länder, higher education institutions, funding organizations and the Accreditation Council. They are intended to be effective throughout the higher education system.
In its recommendations for a sustainable design of study and teaching, the Council emphasizes the following diversity and equal opportunities as central. Universities have a special responsibility. The manifold challenges in teaching and learning are a joint task for all responsible actors
The bukof calls on universities to consistently shape their study and university culture in a gender-just and discrimination-sensitive way. From the allocation of study places to graduation, it is the task of the universities to take action against mechanisms of discriminatory disadvantage. Therefore, the bukof welcomes the recommendations of the Council and confirms, as already the Accreditation Council, the position to integrate aspects of gender equality and diversity cross-sectionally on all levels.
