Attacks, harassment and threats via cell phones and computer media are on the rise. Women are particularly affected by digital violence in their social environment. These include online stalking, image manipulation, defamation on social platforms, blackmail using intimate images and tracking using smartphones.

Digital violence can be stopped if targeted action is taken against it. Security guides and apps are available for this purpose, and legal means can be exhausted when criminal offences are committed.

Examples of digital violence

  • Receive dozens of emails, SMS or Messenger messages a day (cyberstalking)
  • spreading rumors and untruths on the net (cyberbullying)
  • Sexist, racist insults and threats via digital media (cyberbullying)
  • Spying on a person via digital media
